Planning: Traditional transportation planning has focused almost exclusively on reducing traffic congestion, which necessarily meant that dollars went primarily to expanding road infrastructure capacity to meet peak load requirements. In this session, we will discuss why this approach limits choice, increases the cost of living to households, and underutilizes the economic potential of land development. Along the way, learn how the Center for Neighborhood Technology’s Housing and Transportation (H+T) Affordability Index works and discuss some examples of how communities across the country are starting to use the Index to build differently.
