Google Earth Files
The MPO recently obtained 2010 freeway speed and volume data from the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Traffic Management Center (TMC). The data, collected by the TMC from October 4, 2010, to October 31, 2010, contains averaged speed and volume information for both directions of travel during twenty-four hour periods.
Note: In order to view these files, you must download the free Google Earth application. It is important to note that the speed and volume files are organized by sensor location. To view data for a specific location, zoom into that location and click on the colored dot. Clicking on a dot may result in a dot for each location and each direction appearing.
You can also open the files in Google Maps without a download. To open, simply paste the URL into the Google Maps search box and click 'Search Maps.' You can find the URL by right-clicking on each link.
