October 14: MPO Leads Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant Efforts - The MPO recently led efforts to apply for a grant to complete a regional plan for sustainable development. The grant program, offered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, is to support metropolitan and multi-jurisdictinal efforts that integrate housing, land use, economic and workforce development, transportation, and infrastructure investments.

August 31: Fiscal Year 2012 Iowa Clean Air Attainment Program Schedule - The MPO currently is accepting Fiscal Year 2012 Iowa Clean Air Attainment Program (ICAAP) letters of intent. These are due to the MPO office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 23rd, while the completed applications are due to the MPO office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 20th. The MPO will review and submit all applications to the Iowa Department of Transportation.
August 31: Calendar of MPO Member Meetings - In order to help the public become more involved in the planning process, the MPO has developed a calendar with the City Council and Board of Supervisors meeting dates for MPO member governments.
July 14: Sustainable Planning Conference - The MPO is collaborating with several other entities to host a sustainable planning conference in Des Moines on June 29th. This educational event will feature Dan Burden, an urban designer and founder of Walkable Communities, Inc., as the keynote speaker. Click here for more information. You may register here.
June 2: FFY 2011-2014 TIP Available Online - The FFY 2011-2014 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) draft is now available. It includes regionally significant transportation improvements that MPO members and participating agencies anticipate implementing using federal funds.
May 24: Sustainability Workshops Survey - The Greater Dallas County Alliance is requesting your response to its survey. The results will help the Alliance plan a series of sustainability workshops.
May 24: Citizen Transportation Congress - The MPO hosted the Citizen Transportation Congress on Tuesday, May 11th. Check out the presentation here.

May 12: Pictometry Update - The MPO received its Pictometry imagery last month. This oblique aerial imagery can be leveraged for transportation, planning and development, law enforcement, fire, and disaster response. The imagery encompasses the entire MPO planning area and the residual areas of Polk County. Here's a look at Principal Park.
May 12: Port Des Moines Website Launched - The Port Des Moines website launched to assist central Iowa businesses interested in domestic and international trade.
May 3: MPO Blog - The MPO recently unveiled its blog, MPO on the Go, here. The blog is part of the MPO's effort to educate our constituency and improve upon our public participation strategies. MPO staff hopes that, through the blog, we are able to better understand the public perspective.

March 25: Stimulus II Projects -In anticipation of a second stimulus package, the MPO approved 21 projects for submittal to the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT). Six of these projects are anticipated to be let within 90 days; the remaining projects will be let within one year. The total funding target is $16,325,738.

March 17: Fiscal Year 2009 Annual Report - The MPO's Fiscal Year 2009 Annual Report is now available here. The document details the MPO's accomplishments during Fiscal Year 2009.
March 3: Unified Planning Work Program - The MPO will submit its Unified Planning Work Program and budget to the Iowa DOT after April 1.
March 2: Public Input Meetings - The MPO will host several public input meetings over the next month. Various Transportation Improvement Program amendments and the Passenger Transportation Plan will be discussed. View the calendar for more information.
