Freight Roundtable

The purpose of the Freight Roundtable is to more aggressively pursue freight issues in central Iowa to ensure that the area is economically competitive in the region, the nation, and the global market. Created in 2004, its mission is“to work with the public and the private sector to maximize the Des Moines metropolitan area’s, central Iowa’s, and Iowa’s economic opportunity through development of and advocacy for an efficient transportation system to promote economic development and trade in the North American trade corridor centered on I-35/I-29 and connecting Canada, the United States, and Mexico.”

The Freight Roundtable meets quarterly and is chaired by Polk County Supervisor John Wahlert. Please click here for more information about the metropolitan freight system.
