Public Participation
In serving its eighteen member governments and the citizens of those jurisdictions, the CIRTPA recognizes the importance and necessity of public participation. All CIRTPA meetings are open to the public, and agendas may be obtained for comment on specific subjects on interest to the representatives.
The Reporter:The Reporter is the CIRTPA monthly newsletter. It provides information on plans and programs, public hearings or public discussion, who to contact at the CIRTPA to register comments, and a schedule of CIRTPA meetings. In addition to the monthly newsletter mailings, special editions of The Reporter may be published throughout the year to notify the public of scheduled public input meetings. The CIRTPA notes that any article printed in The Reporter may be used, with the permission of the CIRTPA, as information in newsletters published by member governments or local neighborhood groups and associations.
Website: The CIRTPA website provides information about the CIRTPA, planning activities, upcoming events, and information about CIRTPA committees. The website also offers a repository of documents, maps, newsletters, and press releases.
Legal Notice: Legal notice is published in the Des Moines Register, including the central Iowa distribution area, to inform the public of upcoming public input meetings.
Public Forums: As plans and reports associated with major elements of the transportation planning process are created or updated, the CIRTPA hosts forums across central Iowa to discuss these issues with the public at a local level.
