Pipeline System

Within the central Iowa region, ten pipeline operators maintain pipes in the area. These companies include:

       - Enterprise Products Operating, LP;
       - Northern Natural Gas Company;
       - Amoco Oil Company;
       - Magellan Pipeline Company, LLC;
       - Consumers Energy;
       - Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, LP;
       - Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America (KMI);
       - Alliant Energy-Interstate Power Company;
       - Koch Pipeline Company, LP; and,
       - MidAmerican Energy Company.

These pipelines primarily carry natural gas and crude oil petroleum. There are no anhydrous ammonia pipelines in the CIRTPA planning area. While the CIRTPA does not have direct control over these pipelines, the knowledge of their locations allows the CIRTPA to avoid problems when acquiring right-of-way and when constructing new roads.
