Planning Activities

In order to achieve the goal of promoting the safe, efficient, and economic movement of people and goods along an integrated, intermodal transportation system, the CIRTPA undertakes a variety of planning tasks. These activities relate to all modes of transportation, including air, rail, transit, bicycling and walking, pipelines, waterways, freight, and street and highway. The CIRTPA collaborates with numerous agencies as we strive to improve the regional transportation system. These agencies include:
- The Federal Highway Administration;
- T
he Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART);
- The Des Moines Area MPO; and,
- CIRTPA member governments.
